I got The Book of Awesome from my sister-in-law a year ago. It changed the way I heard “Awesome!” I used to hear it as a slow, drawn out “awwwsumm” in a surfer’s voice. But now when something unexpectedly great happens, I hear a higher-pitched, speedy “Awesome!”
Just before the holidays, I found a gift on my desk at work: a jar containing homemade granola. What I love about this gift is it defies peer pressure to be something chocolate-y or otherwise indulgent. It says, “Your body deserves great energy.”
I also came across an idea someone posted on Facebook. Throughout the year, every time something good happens, write it down and place the note in a jar. At the end of the year, you’ll have fun reading through all the notes. A Jar of Awesome!
